چکیده
The evaluation of macroalgae as a new raw material for diverse bioprocesses is great interest due to their fast growth rate and low environmental impact. Lactic acid has high value in the bio-based industry mainly produced via fermentation. anaerobic lactic fermentation Kappaphycus alvarezii hydrolysates using high-producing strain Lactobacillus pentosus was evaluated detoxified non-treated prepared from concentrated algal biomass dilute solution mixtures. A novel hydrolysate detoxification procedure, combining activated charcoal over-liming, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) removal used. L. found successfully ferment untreated up 30% 20% w/v solutions, respectively. Significant production rates (1.88 g/L.h) short lag phases were achieved bioreactor operating at 37 °C pH 6 with 150 rpm impeller velocity. 0.94 g/g yield fermentable sugars (galactose glucose) achieved, indicating that K. could be used production, within context Third Generation (3G) biorefinery.

The two red seaweeds, Gracilaria manilaensis and Kappaphycus alvarezii are cultivated in Malaysia for producing agar and carrageenan, respectively. The residues of these seaweeds after removing agar and carrageenan by dilute acid treatment were subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis using cellulase (Cellic CTec 2). In the optimization of enzymatic hydrolysis, highest glucose concentration was achiev...
متن کاملChanges of Photosynthetic Behaviors in Kappaphycus alvarezii Infected by Epiphyte
Epiphytic filamentous algae (EFA) were noted as a serious problem to reduce the production and quality of K. alvarezii. The morphological studies revealed that the main epiphyte on K. alvarezii was Neosiphonia savatieri in China. Though the harmful effects of EFA on the production of K. alvarezii have been reported, the detailed mechanism of the N. savatieri in limiting the production of K. alv...
متن کاملProduction of L(+) Lactic Acid using Lactobacillus casei from Whey
The aim of this work was to study the fermentation of whey for the production of L(+) lactic acid using Lactobacillus casei. The effect of different process parameters such as pH of the medium, temperature, inoculum size, age of inoculum, agitation and incubation time was monitored to enhance the lactose conversion in whey to L(+) lactic acid. Fermentations were performed without any pH control...
متن کاملL-Lactic Acid Production by Lactobacillus rhamnosus ATCC 10863
Lactic acid has been shown to have the most promising application in biomaterials as poly(lactic acid). L. rhamnosus ATCC 10863 that produces L-lactic acid was used to perform the fermentation and molasses was used as substrate. A solution containing 27.6 g/L of sucrose (main composition of molasses) and 3.0 g/L of yeast extract was prepared, considering the final volume of 3,571 mL (14.0% (v/v...
متن کاملLactic Acid Production from Pretreated Hydrolysates of Corn Stover by a Newly Developed Bacillus coagulans Strain
An inhibitor-tolerance strain, Bacillus coagulans GKN316, was developed through atmospheric and room temperature plasma (ARTP) mutation and evolution experiment in condensed dilute-acid hydrolysate (CDH) of corn stover. The fermentabilities of other hydrolysates with B. coagulans GKN316 and the parental strain B. coagulans NL01 were assessed. When using condensed acid-catalyzed steam-exploded h...
